When I woke up I was hurting all over
and didn't feel like going out but I eventually forced myself to. Decided to not go to the parade or Governor's Island because I wasn't sure if anyone I knew was going to the parade, and what's the fun in going to a Jazz Age Lawn Party alone? I was in a Gatsby mood the other day, though. Anyway, I ended up going to a rehearsal. I'll see if they get back to me or not. Either way, it was alright and I passed by a Chinese bakery and got some bubble tea and yellow bread thingers. Those areas kind of drive me nuts, but I ducked into Macy's and H&M on my way to the PATH train to cool down. I had no idea it was going to be that warm today. Yesterday was a little cool, but it was a big improvement from Friday. My shoes, socks, and pants got soaked and I thought I my muscles would give up on me and I'd fall over from standing in the same place for too long. The Saturday dinner was great. As long as there's a good assortment of cheese I'll be pleased. I wanted to try the steak but I had a feeling I would throw up on the table if I ate any more. Too much bad-for-you food. Alot of the student workers swiped alumni blankets, most of them did it in broad daylight. Some actually picked them up and ran out of the tent. Because that doesn't draw attention at all.
I just took a bottle of hand sanitizer, they had baskets of them because of the swine flu.
The other day I had the biggest strawberry I ever ate, maybe half the size of my palm. It was perfectly ripe and glorious. I put some balsamic vinaigrette on it since the bottle said it tastes great on strawberries.
I also remembered that we took a ride on a golf cart to the campus exit last night. That too was glorious. The dorm bathrooms were another story. That is one thing I'm not jealous of. But I do envy their food. Breakfast was great, usually I'm picky when it comes to pancakes but I liked mine just fine. And they had waffles, toast, fruit, cottage cheese, bacon, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, english muffins, cereal, ice cream, breakfast pizza, juice, coffee, and a bunch of other things there. It's buffet style, and the tables have salt, pepper, and tobasco sauce among other condiments. In my campus, there's usually just gross, hard pancakes, bacon, sausage patties, and potatoes. And bagels. I found a facebook page whose title describes the cafeteria stuff as prison food. Gross. The stuff there tends to taste like cardboard. I think I would maybe do this again next year, but if I do I'll submit as early as possible so I don't get crappy assignments.
I read about two different people who kept journals, the kind that are kind of like scrapbooks. One was a journalist who grew up in South Africa, I think and eventually was killed, the other is also dead and was a scholar. I thought if I had a sturdy journal I'd snip out a piece of my poncho and tape that and the campus map to a page and write the experience down, but it seems like a lot of work. I'll see.
Next to Normal's Tony performance makes me kind of want to see it now. It was pretty intense.
I'm getting sleepy and there's nothing good left on tv.
I just realized that I kind of repeated myself. Oh well.
